How did you choose your instrument?
I decided to take up violin at the age of seven after little interest in piano lessons for a year. I think even back then, I was drawn by the brilliance, lyricism, and range of sounds that the instrument is capable of.
What piece are you most excited to play this coming season?
The one piece I am most excited to perform with AYS this season is Mahler 5. At every rehearsal, I immerse myself to its sweeping lines, glorious sound, contrast of density, and the whole spectrum of emotions that Mahler has laid out for us.
What have you learned from AYS so far and what are you hoping to gain from AYS in the future?
Leading up to my first concert with AYS, I have already strengthened skills of collaborative playing, attention to detail, and sharper response to the conductor’s interpretation. Going forward, I would love to work on developing leadership skills as well.
