UCLA Schoenberg Hall – Orchestra Room 1343
Application Deadline Extended: Friday, March 16th 2018

Glenn Dicterow, a world-renowned artist who served as Concertmaster of the New York Philharmonic for 34 years (and who is currently a vital member of the AYS Advisory Council), will lead a masterclass for select AYS violinists on April 14, 2018.

Members of the 2017/18 violin sections are eligible to apply for participation. Three participants will be chosen by a video recording, which has to be submitted with the application form.

  1. Submission of Online Application
  2. Submission of a CV or resume, including applicant’s musical educational background, performance experience, and a list of any awards and accomplishments.
  3. A video or audio recording of the applicant demonstrating his or her violin playing skills. All videos should be uploaded and submitted in the application form. Please submit no more than three videos of contrasting works for violin, with total duration up to 15 min.

Each element of an individual’s application is evaluated carefully and compared to the overall applicant pool. Candidates are evaluated on the basis of the quality of playing in their provided recordings as well as resume information. All participants will be notified by email of their participation on or before March 9.

Participation is limited, but the masterclass is open to all current American Youth Symphony musicians to attend!

Our thanks to Peter Mandell and Sarah Coade Mandell for their support of this program.
