The American Youth Symphony (AYS) is dedicated to the artistic development of a new generation of musicians and to building audiences to support them. As a member of the American Youth Symphony, you will receive tuition-free training, have wonderful opportunities to enhance your musical growth, experiment, study new works, develop leadership skills, and perform at a high level of excellence some of the great repertoire required of a musician today!
There is no fee to audition.
August 28 – September 3
To participate, you must be at least 15 years of age as of September 30, 2017. Most members of AYS are college or graduate students majoring in performance, with a median age of 20-24. We also welcome exceptionally talented high school students who already have substantial musical training. AYS accepts applicants based on their musical ability without regard to gender, race, religion, disability, or income. Annual open auditions ensure that the most qualified musicians have the opportunity to participate in fundamental performance technique.
